Lakewood Public Library
The mission of Lakewood Public Library is to serve people of all ages, circumstances and interests by selecting, organizing, preserving and making widely accessible the records of human experience, knowledge, ideas, information, insight and values. Lakewood Public Library is an independent school district library serving Lakewood and surrounding areas from its two locations—the Main Library on Detroit Avenue and the Madison Branch on Madison Avenue. Both locations offer materials, programs and services for all ages. In total, the library owns over 450,000 items for children and adults, including fiction, non-fiction, picture books, board books, graphic novels, magazines, audio books, CDs, CD-ROM, DVDs and videos. An extensive menu of programs are available, including children’s story times and craft programs, summer reading club, homework help, afterschool programs, movie nights, computer classes, and special programs on Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons sponsored by the Friends of Lakewood Public Library.
