Rotary Club of Cleveland

The Rotary Club of Cleveland was founded in 1910, the 18th Rotary Club to be chartered, and is one over 32,000 Rotary Clubs located in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. The Rotary Club of Cleveland, like all Rotary clubs, is a group of business, professional and community leaders, men and women, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build good will and peace in the world. The Rotary motto is "Service Above Self". All Rotary Clubs are members of Rotary International which celebrated it's 100th anniversary in 2005 and the Rotary Club of Cleveland has already begun planning for the celebration of its centennial anniversary in 2010-2011.

The Rotary Club of Cleveland has a strong tradition of "Service Above Self". As part of its work in the community is the club's Annual Thesmacher High School Recognition Day/New Generations Conference which recognizes the top graduating seniors from each Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) High School and engages them in a discussion of current issues from their perspectives with community and business leaders as facilitators. The Rotary Club of Cleveland provides holiday presents for the children of teenage mothers enrolled in the Old Stone Foundation Education Center, provides scholarships through the Cleveland Scholarship Programs to 4 Cleveland seniors each year, sends 5-7 CMSD juniors to a 5-day Rotary Youth Leadership Award camp at Hiram College, and presents Vocational Service Awards of Excellence to students at Cleveland State University and Cuyahoga Community College. Visit Rotary Plaza directly across from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum which is dedicated to the humanitarian work of Rotarians worldwide.
