Dobama Theatre

Dobama is a small professional theater dedicated to premiering outstanding plays written by today's established and emerging playwrights and producing plays of consequence not previously offered at other area theaters. Each year Dobama produces three to six mainstage plays; over the company's 49 year history, 98% of the productions are award-winning Cleveland, American or World premieres.

Through its educational programming, Dobama Theatre seeks to awaken interest, enkindle imaginations and provide training in theater arts to artists and non-artists of all ages. The Marilyn Bianchi Kids' Playwriting Festival, now in its 32nd year and the first event of its kind in the country, inspires the creation of plays by area first through twelfth graders. Award winning plays are published and produced by Dobama Theatre. As part of the Festival, Dobama offers a weekend of free theater to area families and workshops for teachers and students. Dobama's Night Kitchen offers late-night programming that involves young adults, ages 15 to 30, as audience members and participants. Like the company's mainstage productions, Night Kitchen, now in its 9th year, is a vehicle for developing new writers, addressing world issues, and attracting theatergoers of all ages.

Dobama Theatre is a member of Cleveland Arts Education Consortium (CAEC).
